Lovin' Those Pumpkinheads!

I don't know what it is about them but I've always been
attracted to images of people with pumpkinheads....
one of my all-time favorite Halloween themes.
So for the
Trio of Tombstones Swap
in the
Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group
I went a bit off the beaten path with these non-Marie,
non-French tombstones.
The tombstones are completely covered in mica flakes
and embellished with glittered webs and spiders.
I then created my own little
pumpkin headed bat girls
with their RIP pumpkins.

If you'd like to see what other
Halloweenphile bloggers are doing
to celebrate the season,

This is a doll I won in Kim's giveaway
last Halloween.
And her amazing dolls have only gotten
creepier and cooler since!

The freebie images I have for you this week
are honoring, what else?
Pumpkinheads!!!

And my VERY favorite......

Pretty Little Witches

Happy Haunted Humpday!
My friend Kimberly hosts the best swaps at
and who can resist the theme
pretty little witches?
Well I certainly couldn't!

We're swapping atc's and
this sweet little witch was my first...
After playing with several images
I decided I liked this particular little witch
so much...
that I created a coven!

That adorable kitty image
is from one of my all-time fav
Halloween collage sheets from one
of my all-time fav etsy sellers,

Now, how about some skelly images for the Haunted Humpday freebies...

Mermaids....Itty Bitty Style

Our current
Itty Bitty Book Club
collaborative is a shell shaped
mermaid themed book.
For the background I decoupaged torn pieces
of blue and green tissue paper.
The sequined net fabric provides a wonderful
undersea effect.
I also added little blue and green gems
and some fabulous glittered "seaweed'.
Tucked into each shell
is an articulated and removable mermaid paper doll.
Fun project!
Can't wait to see what the other 15 participants came up with!

current collaborative in the
Itty Bitty Book Club...
the theme is owls,
what a fun book this will be!

French Envelopes

I always enjoy a collaborative swap...
each participant creating
a page
or tag
 or even an envelope,
that will become an integral part of the completed project.
In the
 Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group
we are swapping handmade envelope pages
that will be bound into a book.
We made our envelopes from Jolee's line
of beautiful French General papers.
Tucked inside my envies
are French General tags wrapped in seam binding.
I'm sure it will be one of those books
you just can't put down!

Corky Charlottes

In the Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group
we are swapping
Corky Charlottes.
A corky Charlotte is a doll
whose body is a wine or champagne cork
and whose head is an antique
 German bisque doll head.
This is my doll for
Terri

And this is the beautiful little lady
I received from her.

Aren't they the sweetest?
These are so much fun to make
and I'm certain this won't
be my last!

Hope you're all having a
wonderful weekend!

Oh You Beautiful Doll! & A New Matchbox Swap!

My love affair with dolls goes way back.
I have fond memories of playing with my Barbie and Midge dolls
for hours on end.

Several years ago one of my favorite creative pastimes was
making paper dolls, most were sold on ebay.
 MerKitten
Man in the Moon ATC Doll
Catrina
 &
 Santa Cat
were just a few.

I also collect dolls of all kinds.
 Miniatures are always appealing,
and musical dolls are an extension of my
music box addiction.
Handmade artist dolls are particularly special as I am well aware
of the hours of love and skill put into creating
a one of kind keepsake.

I recently participated in my first mixed media doll swap.
We swapped dolls made from
vintage salt and pepper shakers and antique doll heads.
 These are my dolls
and this is the beauty I received from my partner
 Amy.

I'm currently participating in a cork doll swap.
This charming girl was created by our talented swap hostess

And there's nothing like an altered skelly doll
for Halloween!
This guy was swapped out last year.

I can't believe it took me this long to translate my
love of dolls
into a matchbox swap!!!
I hope you'll join me in celebrating
dolls of all kinds.

Saturday Treasures

Last weekend was a very good weekend for estate and yard sales.
I though you might enjoy seeing a few
of my favorite picks.

I've always been enamored with
vintage vessels of all types
and these two lovelies were a steal
at $1 each.

I had more altered dolls in mind when I came across
these gorgeous silver salt and pepper shakers
I don't know if the watch still works
but I don't plan on wearing it.
Disassembled it will provide several
ornate findings to use in mixed media pieces.
The seller requested 10 cents for it!

I collect many things
and one of my oldest and favorite collections is
music boxes.
I don't believe this one is very old
but it's very pretty.

I have a few of this type already
and they're so fun.
They were used to hold ladies face powder.

An enjoyable Saturday
with such wonderful finds...
I'm off to a block sale this morning.
Wish me luck
&
happy hunting to you!

The Girls

The girls are actually altered salt and pepper shaker dolls
I made for a swap in our
Marie Antoinette Mail Art Group.
Their heads are from antique porcelain dolls who lost their bodies
a long, long time ago in Germany.
I've given them crowns (the tall blonde has a fleur de lis crown!) and dressed them in some lovely vintage fabrics and adorned them with
assorted bits and baubles.
The girls will be traveling to their new homes tomorrow...
both of my swap partners happen to live in
Knoxville
so perhaps they'll get to visit
each other again.
Enjoy your Sunday!
